The Senior Technical Support Engineer position is responsible for the back line customer support of QLogic products. This position requires the individual to work directly with customers to identify the issue they are having. The Senior Technical Support Engineer is also responsible for replicating customer issues and working with development teams to communicate severe issues and coordinate the technical resources required to resolve problems. Some lab work will be expected to setup and recreate customer configurations and problems. Additionally, some technical writing and the ability to handle complex support issues is expected.
The principal duties of this position are as follows:
1) Provide professional high quality customer support on QLogic products.
2) Diagnose and troubleshoot standard customer technical problems.
3) Management of incoming customer phone calls and emails, including properly following escalation procedures.
4) Call management of level 1 customer support problems.
5) Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees by complying with the Affirmative Action goals, programs, and policies.
6) Performs related and other duties as required.
Qualified candidates will possess the following:
1) Bachelors degree or better in engineering, computer science, or related discipline, or the equivalent in training and experience.
2) Minimum of 5 years related experience.
3) Knowledge of High Performance Computing (HPC), networking, servers, and operating systems; advanced knowledge in at least two of these areas required.
4) Experience developing or troubleshooting Linux device drivers.
5) Developed hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
6) Knowledge of parallel programming, especially MPI along with experience in troubleshooting in an HPC environment.
7) Programming with C, C++, and/or Fortran preferred.
8) Knowledge of the installation, configuration and administration of enterprise Linux configurations, and/or Unix in clustered environments.
9) Experience with more than one Operating System preferred.
10) InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, SCSI, or iSCSI experience a plus.
11) Some technical writing experience required.
